The cosmopolitan capital city of Colombia, Bogotá, home to approximately 8 million people, is situated at an elevation of roughly 2640 m in the Andean Highlights. Day trips from Bogotá include a journey to Zipaquirá, where you can see the impressive underground cathedral constructed from a salt mine.
